Minutes of meeting with Councillor V Tomlinson, 9th December 2010

Representatives of Oakhurst Residents’ Association and Redhouse Residents’ Association met with our Ward Councillor, Vera Tomlinson, on the 9th December 2010, regarding the Tadpole Farm development.  Here are the minutes of that meeting:

(Notes taken by Simon Todd; start 09.40, end 11.25)
Individuals present:
Simon Todd, Eiile Hunt, Jeff Hill, Paul keevans, Vera Tomlinson, Steph Exell
Apologies: Steve Tovey
Subject - Tadpole Farm Development
VT opened by questioning the group how we felt about a number of 1640 homes, concern from the group that we are not happy about this total number.
EH + SE questioned VT about the 1640 and is this a total number i.e. no more and is this a total or will there be more as the land is sold off. No resolution was reached. ( Vera has changed this to 1690 by phone on 15/12/10 and has apologised for her mistake and asked the record be changed accordingly)
EH raised issues about traffic concerns and is there a computer model about how traffic will affect surrounding area.
JH covered that a number of meeting have taken place between Crest (Sarah Foster) and council. This has highlighted traffic problems through the Oakhurst and Redhouse. A traffic survey had taken place gathering data which has highlighted issues and it is concerning as there may be 1500 homes on the tadpole farm development. JH highlighted several issues about other main structural services i.e. health care, schools, shops, support services etc
VT requested from the council meeting that everything that was said would be put in writing; Sarah Foster by phone has said this has not been done as yet, but had confirmed content of letter to VT. VT has stated that when this is writing it will be passed to Oakhurst and Redhouse residents Chair.
VT  stated the current position re potential road routes stands as follows and will be confirmed in writing from Crest to VT shortly.
Lady Lane: it is confirmed that it is a Bridle Way and will NOT be re opened
Addinsell Rd: there are no plans to link Addinsell Rd to Tadpole Lane this is coming to VT in writing.
Oakhurst Way: will not be widened as it is a flood plain there have never been any plans and never will be.
EH has requested what is the designed capacity of Oakhurst Way and is it nearing its full capacity from traffic volume. SE has stated concerns that she is concerned that we should not be pushing to have Oakhurst way at full capacity.
VT site traffic – the plans are to use a link road to the A419 as land is owned by SBC. VT Peter Greenaulgh (lead council member for Transport) suggested Tadpole lane should become a Green Rd (we don’t know what a green rd is) Rod Bluh came up with the idea of traffic not going along around Tadpole Lane past Uplands School. (See end note for further post meeting information from Steve Tovey on definition of Green road)* Neither of these suggestions are firm plans currently, simply suggestions for further consideration.
VT traffic may end up coming down Saltzgitter Way and Oakhurst Way
VT SBC will do a Rd survey for the whole site when it become most expedient and efficient to do so. Doctors and schools have been discussed to be placed on the new development.
EH ST requested to VT can she take back to SBC our concerns of the current traffic problems. And that we should look at the current traffic issues through the Redhouse and Oakhurst i.e. Redhouse Way.
ST to VT: Can a full traffic survey be carried out with the Residents’ Association looking at the whole picture of the current traffic problems. This will identify the traffic situation at the moment and assist with future traffic movements.
SE a big thanks to VT and that the issues are not with VT but with the situation.
EH to VT bus gate – there is a concern that large bus route are not being used effectively and a need to properly consult with the Residents’ Association to get a service that suits the residents not the bus company, within the current developments and all future developments.
A Big thank you to VT from all for a positive meeting.

*There was no mention of this point at the end on the copy of minutes I received; I will try and chase up this definition of 'Green Roads'.
