The Chair of Governors at Isambard Community School has informed ORA that the school’s Governors are considering converting the school into an academy. They would like to hear your thoughts on this matter. Please see here for more details.
If you would like to ask questions, or to voice your thoughts in a public forum, there will be a meeting for parents or interested parties on Tuesday, 26th April 2011, 6.30pm at Isambard School (school hall) or if you would prefer to email your views then please email consultation@isambard.swindon.sch.uk. The consultation period closes on Thursday, 28th April 2011.
ORA members have expressed the following concerns about the way that the consultation has been managed:
- The consultation period is very short.
- There has been very little communication with the general community about the proposed change.
- There has been no letterbox publicity about the consultation.
- Only parents of Year 6 pupils have been contacted but parents of younger children (especially Year 5 who were invited to the schools’ open evening) appear to have no say about what is going to happen, despite Isambard’s importance in this part of north Swindon.
The Chair of Governors has been invited to attend our next committee meeting on 4th May and we will let you know if there is any more news on this issue.
