The ORA petition, signed by 450 local residents, was debated at SBC's Full Council last week. The petition stated, "We, the undersigned, want Swindon MPs and councillors to regularly consult the Oakhurst Residents' Association and other representatives of the local community about developments in the area and take account of their views".
It appears that despite our petition and the number of residents who have expressed grave concerns about developments in the area, the Councillors do not feel obliged to take our views into account. Yet again it feels that processes are being done to people rather than with people and the Localism Act has done very little to change the attitudes of those elected to represent and protect our communities.
A motion was passed unanimously by Full Council as a response to our petition but, as yet, ORA have not received a copy. We will publish this when a copy becomes available.
